Welcome to Boarderless.app! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Boarderless.app (the "Service" or "App"), operated by the Operators of Boarderless.app ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
1. User Liberty, Responsibility, & Technical Boundaries
Boarderless is a creative tool built to preserve user agency. We do not design the Service to monitor, pre-approve, or police lawful user expression, and we do not take custody of your canvas data just to make moderation easier. You remain responsible for what you create, import, export, and sync. Our restrictions are limited to technical and legal boundaries needed to protect users, Google Drive integration, payment/account systems, and the Service itself.
We may block or reject files, formats, payloads, automation, or requests that are illegal, malicious, executable/active in unsafe ways, malformed, abusive to infrastructure, or likely to compromise a user's account, our account, our website, or third-party services. These controls are not a license for us to surveil your private work; they are narrow safety rails so the app can remain powerful without becoming reckless.
If you use the built-in Ai features or connect external agents/automations to your canvas via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) interface, you acknowledge that these tools operate under your sole direction, control, and authority. Any modification, creation, deletion, extraction, or other action performed on your canvas by connected external agents or Ai assistants is legally deemed to be an action taken directly by you. We are not responsible or liable for any content created, data lost, or actions taken on your canvas by connected external agents or third-party systems.
2. Eligibility & Authentication
Free Canvas does not require an account. Personal and Pro subscriptions require you to deliberately sign in with Google before Stripe Checkout so we can create and manage your subscription account. Pro users may separately choose to connect Google Drive. We do not support password-based registration or other third-party login providers. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google Account and all activity under your subscription account.
3. Subscription Tiers & Billing
- Free Tier: Available at no cost without an account. Canvas data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB. The Free tier permits one active board, up to five archived boards, eight canvas Objects, twenty session-only undo steps, PNG export, and
.bdrl.jsonboard export. - Personal Tier: Paid monthly subscription ($3.00/mo) or annual subscription ($30.00/yr) processed via Stripe. Canvas data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB.
- Pro Tier: Paid monthly subscription ($5.00/mo) or annual subscription ($50.00/yr) processed via Stripe. Includes cloud synchronization directly to your own Google Drive. The Company does not host your canvas data on its servers.
- No Refunds: All payments processed via Stripe are non-refundable. You may cancel your subscription at any time to prevent future billing.
- Payment Failure & Grace Period: If your payment fails, we will notify you and provide a three (3) day grace period to update your billing information. If payment is not secured within this timeframe, we reserve the right to downgrade your account to the Free tier, which immediately enforces Free tier limits.
4. Storage, Data Loss, & Local Persistence
For Free and Personal tiers, all canvas data, shapes, text, and images are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB. We do not store this data on our servers.
For Pro-tier users, you authorize the App to sync files directly to your own Google Drive space using narrow, app-specific OAuth scopes. The Company does not host your synced designs on its servers.
Boarderless Drive features are for Boarderless-generated board/export files. You may not use Boarderless to relay arbitrary executable content, malware, credential harvesters, or unsafe active documents into Google Drive.
5. Intellectual Property & Acceptable Use
- User Content Ownership: You retain full ownership, intellectual property rights, and copyright of any canvas data, layouts, shapes, text, images, or designs you create, import, or sync using the Service. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content.
- Company Intellectual Property: All software, styling, logos, icons, interface designs, templates, and code of Boarderless.app are the exclusive property of the Company and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
- Prohibited Activities: You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload, draw, or share any content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or violates intellectual property rights.
- Upload, import, sync, or export malware, credential-stealing content, exploit payloads, or active files designed to compromise a device, account, Google Drive, Boarderless, or any third-party service.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, copy, or scrape the source code or layout files of Boarderless.app.
- Deploy automated scrapers, bots, or crawlers to access the Service or extract canvas data.
- Attempt to bypass or compromise our server-side tier validation controls.
6. Limitation of Liability & "AS-IS" Warranty
The Service is provided on an "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company disclaims all warranties, express or implied.
7. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Company and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or any content you create, sync, or export that infringes the rights of any third party.
8. Account Suspension & Termination
We reserve the right to temporarily suspend or permanently terminate your access to the Service (including disabling active logins or Cloud Sync mechanisms) if: (a) you violate these Terms, (b) you use the Service in a manner that abuses or threatens the stability of our infrastructure, (c) you fail to pay applicable subscription fees (subject to the grace period in §3), or (d) we are required to do so by law. We will attempt to notify you in advance when commercially reasonable.
9. Governing Law, Forum, & Export Controls
- Governing Law & Forum: These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of the jurisdiction where the Service's operators are located.
- Export Controls: The Service is subject to United States export controls. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and revising the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
